Upper Mustang or popularly known as the Kingdom of Lo is a remote, rugged and restricted region north of Annapurna. In 1992 the area was finally opened to a limited number of foreign visitors per year. Today Upper Mustang is one of the most sought after biking and trekking destinations in Nepal highlighting more than 1000 year old monasteries, ancient war caves, nomadic tribes, moon-like arid but scenic landscapes dotted by snowy peaks.

With the opening of a dirt road all the way to the border at Karola Pass (4,660m), Upper Mustang is now proving to be a paradise for adventure seekers.


DAY 1: Arrive in Kathmandu. Meet, greet and transfer to hotel.

We will receive you at the airport. Transfer you to our hotel in Thamel. Bikes will be dropped at the hotel the same evening. Tour briefing next morning before departure. B&B only.

DAY 2: Kathmandu to Pokhara's Beautiful Lakeside. 200km.

Start our ride out of Thamel and follow the Ringroad till Kalanki exit passing via the monkey temple on your left. Traffic could be crazy for the next 25km but once we pass Naubise a toll counter, the ride gets smoother and we build a beautiful riding pace. We make our first coffee break at 56 Espresso Bar at 56km. We then continue our ride to Kurintar where we will have our first delicious Nepali set lunch prepared by our Jomsom didi (Veg/non Veg) while enjoying the views of the sacred Manakamana temple and the cable car across from Trishuli river. We continue our ride after lunch towards Pokhara's Lakeside city. We check into 4 star rated hotel. Dinner at one of the finest restaurants in Lakeside. Riding hour approx. 7 hours.

DAY 3: Pokhara to Kagbeni via Marpha. 165km.

Leave Pokhara after breakfast and ride towards Beni, Tatopani and Kalopani where we stop for lunch. Look out for the amazing views of the Fishtail mountain from Naudanda. Fuel topup at Beni 65km. Lunch stop at Tatopani, Annapurna Hotel while enjoying the views of Nilgiri on a clear day. Continue our ride to Kalopani and take a quick break and enjoy the views of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri mountains before we ride the last lapse of the day to Kagbeni, an ancient little town with a majestic fort. We check into a lodge.

DAY 4: Kagbeni to Lo Manthang via Charang. 85km. Full dirt road.

Around 8:00am we start our ride towards the beautiful Charang Village. Offroad riding conditions with bulldust in some places. The scenery along the Kali Gandaki river beds is out of this world. Little caves high up on the cliff and red rock tunnels at Chele, yak herders villages at Tangbe, are magnificent and worth stopping. The road starts gaining altitude till Sangboche and Ghami. Lunch stop is at Syangboche, where simple simple food like chicken noodle soup, rice and lentils with buff curry or Tibetan bread and omelette. We continue our ride to Lo Manthang our destination popularly known as the Walled City or the Forbidden City. A few kilometers before arriving there is a high pass, a vantage point for many world reknowned photographers who have captured unbelieveable pictures of the forbidden city with the moonlike landscape in the background. A great spot for a group photo. Upon arrival Lo Manthang we check into Pema’s Lotus Inn. A simple clean guest house offering delicious food and homely atmosphere.

DAY 5: Lo Manthang to Korola Pass. 4650m. Day ride with visit to Choser Sky Caves.

Leave Lo Manthang around 9:00am and ride to Korola Pass. The distance is approximately 20k oneway. The newly expanded road from Lo Manthang to Korola that is almost ready to be blacktopped, offers easy riding condition. However, you will notice the altitude gain. The border pillar is built on the Tibetan plateau. The mountain views are spectacular. The ride is absolutely enjoyable. On the way back we will visit Choser Cave also known as Sky Caves of Mustang. Ancient caves built inside a cliff. The last cave as you climb up, is as high as 10 storey building and the round openings offer unbelievable views of the surrounding landscapes. Ride back to Lo Manthang and rest. Dinner and breakfast of your choice.

DAY 6: Lo Manthang to Muktinath via Kagbeni. Approx. 90km.

We ride back the same route with tea stop at Sangboche. Lunch stop at Lo Ghami. Upon arrival at Kagbeni, we ascend towards Muktinath and check into one of the hotels in Jharkot. Muktinath is 3800m and is popularly known for the sacred Muktinath temple surrounded by 108 spring water spouts. Muktinath is also popular for the most amazing mountain views that includes Dhaulaigir, Nilgiri, Tukche Peak and Muktinath Himal.

DAY 7: Muktinath to Pokhara. 175km. Quick ride to Kusma's Hanging Bridge.

Enjoy the early morning clear views of the mountains. After breakfast we start our return ride to Pokhara with a quick stop at Kusma's highest and longest hanging bridges. We check into our hotel in the Lakeside city.

DAY 8: Pokhara to Kathmandu. 200km.

After breakfast, approx. around 9:00am we start our journey back to Kathmandu. Coffee stop at Gunadi Highway Restaurant. Lunch stop at Riverside Spring Resort. Coffee stop at 56 Espresso Bar. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, check into our hotel in Thamel. Go for a celebration dinner in the evening.

DAY 9: Transfer to airport.

Our representative will transfer you to the airport for your return flight back home. Or you are free to explore on your own and go for another adventure trips like trekking, rafting, etc.

INCLUDES: Airport pickup and drop. 411CC Himalayan bike with fuel for the entire trip. Tour guide, mechanic, spare parts and support vehicle. Hotel/Guest House on twin share basis with breakfast and dinner. Upper Mustang permit and special interests entrance fees. A cool tour t-shirt and a cap. Trip completion certificates. 

EXCLUDES: International air tickets, Nepal visa fee, lunch and dinner in Kathmandu except farewell dinner, lunch during the tour. Bar bills and laundry. Tips and gratitudes. Emergency rescue and Insurance. Repair charge for any physical damage to the bike. 

BIKES: We use 411CC Himalayan bike for this trip. Bikes are only third party insured. Honda CRF 250cc are also available for trip.

NOTE: No need of international driving license as long as you have a valid driving license from your own country. Riders must bring proper riding gears. Nepal visa can be obtained upon arrival at the airport.
