Spiti Valley lies in the northern part of India close to Kashmir along with Kinnaur, Lahaul, Sangla and Pin Valleys in Himachal Pradesh state. The entire region is covered by high mountain ranges and is considered sacred due to being one of the oldest centres for Buddhism. The desert mountain landscape and the cultures and tradition of the region are extraordinarily beautiful. Starting from Shimla all the way to Manali, the interesting combination of roads such as dirt, blacktopped, road that are carved out of rocks makes the area a paradise for adventurer tourers.

TRIP ITINERARY

DAY 1: Arrive in Delhi. Transfer to Hotel (5 star).

We will receive you at Delhi Airport and transfer you to our hotel. Meet, greet and get to know each other over dinner. B&B only.

DAY 2: Fly to Jubarhatti Airport. Drive to Shimla.

Early morning drive to airport and fly to Shimla. 1 hour flight time. 1hr drive to Shimla town. Check into our hotel.

Option B: Drive to Shimla by a private AC van. 8 – 9 hours drive. Check into hotel and rest. Bikes will be at the hotel. BLD.

DAY 3: Ride to Sarahan Temple. 160KM.

Ride starts at 8:30am after breakfast. Ride to Sarahan, a small but beautiful town situated majestically on the top of a hill surrounded by numerous apple orchards. Beautiful winding road thru pristine pine forest along the Sutluj. Overnight in hotel. We take a short walk and visit magnificent Bhimakali temple decorated with intricate carvings. BLD.

DAY 4: Ride to Sangla Valley with a short ride of Chitkool Village. 132km.

Ride starts at 8:30am after breakfast. Ride to Sangla Valley. We will ride thru some really amazing road carved into the rocky cliff with low rocky ceilings besides the raging Sutlej river. Our overnight camp is located inside a beautiful apple orchard and is surrounded by pristine nature. You will be woken up by the chirping of the birds early morning. Camps have attached bathroom and hot shower facility. BLD.

DAY 5: Ride Sangla Valley to Nako via Reckongpeo. 170km.

As usual, we kickstart at 8:30am after breakfast. Once again we are on a beautiful winding road to Reckongpeo. Obtain permit for Spiti Valley at the tourism office. Tea or coffee break. We continue our ride till Dabling bridge where we will make our first permit entry at the check point. Witness the beautiful confluence of Sutlej and Spiti river. From this point onwards we will be officially entering the magnificent Spiti valley. Arrive at Nako and check into our hotel. Nako is a beautiful old village established around a small lake with Tibetan influence. A walk thru the village and a visit to the village monastery is worthwhile. BLD.

DAY 6: Ride to Kaza via Gue Monastery and Tabo. 145km.

We leave Nako at 8:30am as usual and head towards Kaza the Headquarters of Spiti Valley. On the way will take a short detour to visit Gue monastery housing a mummy of a high ranking lama (monk). The monastery is located 17km off the main highway on a hilltop offering. Back on the highway, we pay a visit to Tabo monastery, the oldest one in the area established in the 9th century. The rustic smell, the simple mud-plastered walls and the deity statues hanging off the walls offers you a sneak peek into ancient art and culture that has survived the modernization. Lunch at one of the restaurants and continue to Kaza. Check into Hotel Sakya Abode. BLD

DAY 7: Kaza - Sightseeing ride to Dhankar Monastery, Pin Valley, Kibber & Hikkim.

Leave all our shit in the hotel. Haha! After breakfast we ride to Dhankar Fort Monastery. Amazing views of the entire Kaza Valley and Pin Valley. We then ride to Pin Valley where and enjoy some amazing landscapes. Approximately 90km round trip. If time allows, we will ride to Hikkim and the world’s highest Post office and send a postcard each back home. Back to the hotel and chill. BLD.

DAY 8: Ride to Chandrataal or the Moon Lake. 110km.

Ride to Chandrataal or the Moon Lake and spend a night once again in deluxe camps watching the moon and the stars. On a clear evening, the milky way is visible. Evening walk around the lake and back. The ride from Kaza to Chandrataal is awesome with amazing sceneries unfolding one after another. We will take a short tea break at Kunzum Pass at 4551m and enjoy the panoramic views of the snowy mountain. BLD.

DAY 9: Ride to Manali over Rohtang Pass 4000m. 124km.

Last lapse. Leave the Moon Lake and head to Manali. Climb over numerous bends to reach the famous Rohtang Pass often covered with snow situated at 4000m. From the pass, it is roughly 45km to Manali where we end our ride. Check into Banon Resorts and party!!! BLD.

DAY 10: Fly to Delhi. Catch your flight back home.

Early morning flight back to Delhi. Either stay in Delhi or catch your flight back home. Domestic to International distance is only 30 minutes drive.

INCLUDES: Airport pickup and drop in Delhi, 500CC Royal Enfield or RE Himalayan 411cc with electric start. support SUV, mechanic support and spare parts, fuel for the entire trip, hotel/resorts/camping with all three meals on twin sharing basis. All temples and monastery entrance fees, all ground transportation, Domestic flight with 15kg luggage, permit for Spiti and Pin valley. A first-aid-kit. 

EXCLUDES: International airfare, Indian Visa fee, lunch and dinner in Delhi, bar bills and soft drinks, laundry, personal travel insurance, emergency rescue, repair charge of physical damage to the bike (if any), extra luggage charge in domestic air (allowed 15kg only).

OUR BIKES: We use 500CC Royal Enfield Classic or 411CC Himalayan with left gear shift & electric start. 

NOTE: Please obtain Indian Visa from the Indian Embassy from the country of your origin. All riders must bring their own riding gears. Full helmet is mandatory. No need of international driving license as long as you have a valid license from your own country. Packing list will be provided once the trip is confirmed. Since we are climbing to 4551m which is our highest altitude gain during the tour, please consult your doctor before leaving for the tour.
